Condition of Japan's Game Market. Which Console is HOT?

Condition of Japan's Game Market. Which Console is HOT?
So from now on, we would get into our business.
What are we going to talk about today?
Let's start from the present condition of Japan's game market.
Is it really so different from the foreign market?
Let's separate home video game consoles from handhelds. Homes mean those consoles such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, which need to be connected to a television for playing. PC (personal computer) in a certain extent could be included in homes, but we consider PC as a totally different thing here in Japan. Consider gaming only, PC is not a home video game console.
Then handhelds are Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable.
Cellphones such as iPhone are not included. We just looking for those getting into the market with the flag of gaming.
Let's start from homes.
As for the foreign market, Wii is the best seller. Then comes Xbox 360 following by PS3. For HD consoles, Xbox 360 sales more than PS3. But in Japan, it is a different story.
So here in Japan PS3 sales more than Xbox 360.
Overwhelmingly.
Overwhelmingly...
Though I say overwhelmingly, it's just about 3 times.
How about Wii?
Wii sales about 8 times of Xbox 360.
So it's 2.5 times of PS3.
According to the stats released in March and April this year, Xbox 360 sales hit 1 million, PS3 sales hit 3 million, Wii sales hit 8 million. It maybe slightly different now, but the ratio is just the same.
Next, let's look into the handhelds.
We only got DS and PSP so it's just simple.
How great is the difference?
DS sales hit 25 million, PSP sales hit 11.5 million. About 2 times.
Nintendo is triumphing.
This trend is just the same for all countries so easy to understand. It's true for Japan too.
The only difference is among HD consoles.
Xbox 360 is hotter in the foreign market. Here in Japan PS3 is hotter. Just knowing this fact you can have a better understanding of Japanese video games.
What do you mean by understanding?
Until next time.
Oh yeah...
