TGS 2009 Closed. This Year's Points are
Tokyo Game Show 2009 held on September 24 to 27 had closed. How was this year?
Disappointed.
Nothing worth notice?
Different from E3, it's not an event for announcing new titles, so nothing new. All announced through magazines.
For new, PSP has a price cut huh.
Yeah. Wii's price cut was announced at the same time, but the Big N wasn't at TGS so that's another story.
Why was that so boring?
TGS had many announcement in the past. Now it is user-oriented, so different from E3's business-oriented style. The effect of E3's business position makes Japanese companies avoid making announcement at TGS.
That's sad for Japanese.
Voice actors event, goods selling etc. were fully adopted though. If you love that, you can enjoy the event.
But there is news saying the number of visitors decreased compare to last year.
That's due to Japan's calendar. We had 5 days holiday before TGS so we just lost the strength for TGS. And the new influenza had an effect too.
The new influenza is raging in Japan.
Though nothing new, that's the biggest game event in Japan. Many people came enjoyed. Visitors counted 0.185 million for 4 days, that's OK. There is a problem that too many people make you hard to enjoy the games, but it's still a worth-noticed event.

Tokyo Game Show 2009 Opens from September 25

Tokyo Game Show 2009 Opens from September 25
Tokyo Game Show 2009 is afew days to go.
This year the schedule is from September 24 to 27.
In terms of overseas time?
From September 23 night for America. If you plan to get information from some news sites, you should check after that time.
The opening will be 10:00 a.m. in Japan. That is 21:00 Sep 23 in New York time, 02:00 Sep 24 in London time.
Asia is close to Japan, the difference is just 1 or 2 hours so not much problem huh.
What is worth notice this time?
Firstly, we should check the keynote address starts from 10:30.
What's the topic?
There will be 2 sections. The first, "Sony Computer Entertainment's New Strategy in 2009". Speaker will be Kazuo Hirai, Chairman and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. Starting from 10:30.
Hope there will be sometning new.
Second, "Strategies and Visions of Top Makers in the Global Era". Speakers will be the top of various companies, in a conversation style.
Who are they?
There are 5 persons. Capcom's President & COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto, Konami Digital Entertainment's Vice President & Corporate Officer Kazumi Kitaue, SQUARE ENIX's President & Representative Director Yoichi Wada, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios' Shuhei Yoshida, and NAMCO BANDAI Games' President & CEO Shin Unozawa.
Really the tops of Japanese game makers.
SQUARE ENIX, NAMCO BANDAI and Capcom made an interesting discussion last year. I don't what they are goning to talk this time but I will check it out.
How about the exhibition booth?
Nothing special...
Oh...
New information already out on magazine, so not many new stuff we can get from the booth. We can only test play but that is not something we can discuss now.
I see.
As game makers of Japan combine, there are less spots that we need to look. Small companies are not worth looking, so we just need to check 10 booths. Small makers seldomly got big news you know. So exhibition booth is less interesting nowadays.
The exhibition booth is easier to walk through but less interesting huh.
Not like E3, TGS is open for ordinary people, so the event pay more effort on stage performance, test play and cinema. Not really an exhibition style and not suitable for releasing news. We can't blame that.
Expecting some burst out there.
By the way, though called Tokyo Game Show, actually not at Tokyo.
Hold at Makuhari, Chiba Prefecture beside Tokyo.
It held at Tokyo Big Sight of Tokyo in the past, but that is too small so moved to Makuhari Messe.
Tokyo Big Sight is the venue of Comic Market.
Here is the bonus, Tokyo Disneyland is not in Tokyo also.
Located in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture too. That is beside Tokyo.
That's all. Please look forward to TGS 2009 in the coming few days.
We will be back when we got some new stuff.
