New Model, Nintendo DSi LL, Praise Our Big N
New model of NDSi had been announced. Bigger screen, 3 pre-installed softwares, and wider view angle.
That is.
Japanese launching date is November 21 with a price of 20,000Yen. How about that?
It's just fantastic.

That company makes a raise in price during deflation. I truly think that is fantastic.
You're right though...
Recently you can buy jeans cheaper than 1,000Yen here in Japan. Many companies cut down the quality and fight for a cheaper price and that is no good. I'm disappointed with all those rubbish at the market. The Big N makes an improvement with a raise in price, that's user-friendly.
A raise in price is not good...
Value raised, then of course the price should rise too.
That's true though...
That's true for games too. The cost of development is so high but the companies just not brave enough to set a higher price, and that just killing themselves. They should really emphasis that their games have a better quality and worth a better price. This should be said openly towards customers.

I had said that before when the Big N made a model change for NDS. The Big N can do such action, that's why Nintendo is called Big N.

Japanese Students' Calendar

Japanese Students' Calendar
Today I would like to introduce the calendar of Japanese students.
Why?
Anime and manga always talk about the school age in Japan. But our school calendar is quite different from other countries, so I think you guys can understand anime and manga better if you know about our school calendar.
You're right. Friends from oversea can get a reference for their dating sims.
I'm not sure if you guys play dating sims or not...

As for Japan, from north to south is quite a distance, so the climate vary a lot. North is cold so the summer vocation is shorter and has a long winter vocation, vice versa for the south. Today we will use the land in between, that is Tokyo, as an example.
Copy that.
First of all, the school calendar starts from April.
Some countries start from September huh.
Trimester 1 is roughly from April to July 20. September to December 20 is Trimester 2. Trimester 3 starts from January 8, lasts until March 20. This is it.
Summer vocation is between Trimester 1 and 2. Winter vocation is between Trimester 2 and 3. And after that is the Spring vocation, a long holiday before the next school year.
Knowing that you can understand anime and manga better.
Not enough I suppose.
Of course there are many events throughout the year. For example, the sport festival and culture festival. We have school excursion and test period. But these vary among each school so no exact date can be told.
As for test period, it is around the end of each Trimester. After that we have long holiday.
Some schools have mid-term exam besides the test periods. This is up to their schedule.

So you know the basic schedule now. It will be meaningful too if you learn about those national events held throughout Japan.
Let's talk about that next time.
Lastly, the above is for primary to high school. As for university, there will be more holiday and no lesson for Trimester 3. Trimester 3 is mainly for exam only. Of course vary from schools though. That's all for today.
