Materials for Customization & Materials for Money - FF13 FAQs & Walkthrough
Today I want to talk about Item. There are 2 types of Item: medicine and material. Materials are items needed for customizing weapon and accessory. If you want to know about customization, please check "Weapon Customization".
So we would focus on material this time.
There are many materials, some suitable for customization, some for money.
For money?
You can sell materials to shop and get some money "Gil". In FF13, selling material is the main method to collect Gil, you can't omit that. Materials with tiny effect in customization should be sold.
How can we identify materials suitable for customization from those for money?
Move the cursor onto the item and there will be an explanation of it. If the material is not suitable for customization, explanation would state that clearly. You should check every materials before customize, or you may lose money and gain tiny effect in customization only.
We should avoid that.
As for materials suitable for customization, there are 2 patterns.
What do you mean by patterns?
Some materials have bonus, but can't increase the weapon's experience value so much. Bonus give the next material that's added to the weapon a multiplier for its awarded experience. Maximum bonus is triple. Use such material first and get a triple bonus, then inject a high-experience material and your weapon or accessory would level up easily.
Huh.
Another pattern is that the material reduce bonus effect, but give the weapon a high experience value.
We need to choose bonus or experience huh.
Using bonus material first, then inject experience material. This is more effective.
How can we identify?
Actually, there are 2 types of materials: Beast and Machine. Item icon of material obtained from beast monster is a fang, while a material obtained from machine monster is a bolt. Beast material is bonus material. Machine material is experience material. Keep in mind.
So we should first inject a beast material to increase the bonus effect, then inject a machine material to gain maximum experience value.
Yep. If you know this rule from the beginning, the whole journey would be a different story. Take care in customization.
How about your customization history?
I used those materials for money to customize so lose so much Gil, and the weapon can't evolve at all...
