Crystal Points (CP) Hunting Locations - FF13 FAQs & Walkthrough
This time is about gaining Crystal Points (CP), which are essential to the Crystarium.
Firstly, chase the story all the way till Chapter 11. Don't worry about CP before Chapter 11.
Really?
Sure. You won't encounter enemy which you can't kill before Chapter 11. And good hunting locations appear from Chapter 11.
I see.
So where do you recommend since Chapter 11?
When you enter Chapter 11, you should chase the story a little bit and level up normally first. That can train your team smoothly with story progressing naturally.
And where should we go to hunt when we really feel difficult to progress?
Firstly, I recommend "Archylte Steppe - Northern Highplain", at that small path entering Mah'habara. There you will find a King Behemoth fighting with another Megistotherium. As they are fight with each other, just enter the fight and you can ambush them. They won't attack you but continue to beat against each other.
We can kill them easily then.
Kill King Behemoth first. As you have ambushed them, break King Behemoth instantly and kill it in a short time. If your team can kill a King Behemoth in Break State easily, here is a good CP hunting location for you.
What if we can't?
Then you should level up at other places first. King Behemoth will fully recover its HP when its HP is low. If you allow that, the efficiency of hunting is bad. If that is the case, the only way is to use buffs and debuffs. After you kill King Behemoth, kill Megistotherium too.
Huh.
Then go beyond the nearest Save Point and return. You will find the 2 enemies rebirth already and you can hunt again.
Any other recommended locations?
In Chapter 12, hunting Adamantaimai is good. Its rare drop is Torapezohedoron, which is essential for evolving your weapons to the highest rank. And its normal drop is Platinum Ignot which can be sold for 150,000 Gil.
Where can we find it?
Just chase the story and you will find it.
Really?
Yep. No need to search. But you need some preparations in order to hunt them.
Preparations?
You need to level up till some extent first. And you need to be able to summon Eidolon, i.e. TP should be above 3. You can prepare TP by fighting nearby enemies.
That's all for preparations?
Yep. And there are 2 methods to kill Adamantaimai.
What is the first method?
Vanille as Saboteur to use "Death". Control Vanille by yourselves, summon Eidolon immediately after you start the battle. The Eidolon-appearance movie can be skipped by pressing Select Button. Enemy is down and can't fight back. During this period, Vanille try "Death" continuously. You can kill Adamantaimai if you are lucky.
If we are unlucky?
You will be defeated.
......
You can Retry so don't worry. If possible, the whole team should become Saboteur so that the probability of "Death" can be highest.
How about the second method?
That is quite hard. Firstly, buy "Power Smoke" from nearby Save Point. Press L1 Button to use it before encounter. Your team should be Fang, Snow, Lightning. Fang summons Eidolon first, press Square Button to enter Driving Mode immediately, and press Triangle Button to call back Eidolon. All summon movie should be skipped by pressing Select Button.
We can skip that huh.
You should launch attack after that. Fang as Saboteur to use debuffs, other 2 members as Ravager to attack. Use auto command to use debuff. When a defuff is in effect, cancel and re-enter auto command to use another debuff. When all debuffs are in effect, the whole team attack as Ravager. Maintain Ravager even if the enemy enters Break State. When the Break gauge at right top corner is over 950%, the whole team change to Commando to attack. If you feel you can't kill it before the Break gauge ends, use Fang's "High Wind" ability. If you can kill it by this method, repeat and hunt your CP and items.
Adamantaimai is strong. If you can't kill them, train your team by hunting King Behemoth as mentioned before.
Accessories are important too. Especially those with Haste. Please refer to "Equipments with Haste". Use equipments that can enhance attack strength too. After you kill Adamantaimai, recharge your TP by fighting nearby enemies. To help that, you need "Energy Sash" too. If you've cleared those Cie'th Stone Missions, you can get "Growth Egg" which can double CP gained. Equip it. Vanille need to equip "Growth Egg" if you choose the "Death" method. Finally, to strengthen Fang's "High Wind", you need to give her a "Genji Series" accessory. If you equip all these equipments but still can't kill Adamantaimai, you really need to train your team through story and missions.
Quite complicated, but the CP is charming.
Lastly, after you kill Adamantaimai and recharge your TP, go to nearby Save Point to save. Press Start Button then Select Button to re-load the game. You will find Adamantaimai rebirth already and no need to go beyond a few area. Save and load is fast so use that in hunting.
