Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (Monster Hunter Freedom 3) Announced. Sequel to the HOTTEST Series in Japan

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (Monster Hunter Freedom 3) Announced. Sequel to the HOTTEST Series in Japan
Big news in Japan huh.
You mean "Monster Hunter Portable 3rd". A PSP game scheduled for late 2010. It may be called "Monster Hunter Freedom 3" overseas.
Too sudden.
Though we knew about the event, we didn't expect there would be such announcement.
And it is a legitimate sequel.
I think the legitimate sequel should be Wii's "Monster Hunter 3"...
Not really. That's just a name. In Japan, PSP's "Monster Hunter Portable" series is the real blockbuster, not Monster Hunter.
Let's explain the situation for our foreign friends. The sales data are approximate.
Selling Date Platform Title Sales
March 11, 2004 PS2 Monster Hunter 0.29 million
January 20, 2005 PS2 Monster Hunter G 0.3 million
December 1, 2005 PSP Monster Hunter Portable 1.1 million
February 16, 2006 PS2 Monster Hunter 2 0.58 million
February 22, 2007 PSP Monster Hunter Portable 2nd 1.64 million
March 27, 2008 PSP Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G 3.6 million
April 23, 2009 Wii Monster Hunter G 0.23 million
August 1, 2009 Wii Monster Hunter 3 0.96 million
"Monster Hunter Portable" is called "Monster Hunter Freedom" overseas.
You can know how PSP versions sales better by the above figure.
PSP's last MH, "Monster Hunter Portable 2ndG", had became a social phenomenon. The portability of PSP matches the gameplay, that's why it became a boom. PSP survives in Japan totally because of this game.
A good fight against NDS' "DRAGON QUEST IX" by SQUARE ENIX, which sold over 4 million copies.
"DRAGON QUEST" is a classic. While "Monster Hunter Portable" is new in the history, so much more fresh.
And its newest sequel "Monster Hunter Portable 3rd" will be launched in late 2010.
We should pay attention to its final sales figure. Could it exceed the previous series or just become an old-fashioned game? I don't know when will it be launched overseas, but Capcom is active outside Japan, so you guys should stay tuned.
