Influence of Iceland's Volcanic Eruption to the Game Industry

Influence of Iceland's Volcanic Eruption to the Game Industry
Various problems have been induced by Iceland's volcanic eruption.
Traffic problem in Europe is serious. It may affect agriculture and human health too.
As a volcanic country, Japan really needs to concern this situation.
Organism is kept alive by the Mother Earth. From this accident, we can know how terrifying and precious the Nature is. That's important.
Why so sudden...
And we are kept alive by many people too. I want to live my life with the appreciation to you guys in my heart.
Shut up you social withdrawal...
!?
Anyway, today is about the influence of Iceland's volcanic eruption to the game industry.
What is the influence?
In Japan, there is no big problem isn't it?
Thanks God.
Maybe we've got one. SQUARE ENIX CEO Yoichi Wada is trapped in England.
He tweets that at Twitter huh...
Basically, manufacture and physical distribution of Japan's market is engined by Asia, problem in Europe won't affect us too much.
How about the effect to overseas?
Makers who sell games to Europe maybe affected. They maybe impossible to ship the games even if they produce the disc. On the other hand, when traffic is blocked, people used to stay at home. Games is a good entertainment in such occasion and people may rush to the game shop. But there is no shipment so game shop maybe out of stock.
Such effect!?
Just an optimism. Out of stock is possible, and new games' launching date maybe affected too.
Huh.
But I don't know the reality of Europe's physical distribution, so hard to say.
What do you mean?
European countries are connected by land route, maybe they use that to ship games normally, airline is not a problem then. Sea route is still alive too. If they are using these to ship games there is no problem at all.
They don't use airline?
I don't know. Actually shipment from Asia to Japan is mainly by sea route. In the past, Nintendo DS is out of stock, Nintendo use airline to make an emergency shipment to Japan. That means we use sea route normally. That's slower but much cheaper than airline. I don't know the transportation cost in Europe, but I think they don't use airline to ship games.
Then the game industry has no problem huh.
Only if the situation improve in short time, If the situation is long-term, not only gaming but our life will be threatened.
E3 2010 will be held in June, any influence?
I don't think so?
No problem at all!?
E3 2010 will be held in America. Of course there are developers from Europe, but the main stream are North America which is the homeland of Xbox 360's Mircosoft, and Wii/PS3's Japan. As long as Japan and America is not cut off, the problem won't be huge. Especially this time, leading characters of E3 2010 should be Nintendo and Sony Computer Entertainment.
Where is the name of Mircosoft...
Mircosoft may make the largest show, but it only got some kind of motion sensing controller. This year, new portable machine should be most important, and all will look at Nintendo and Sony, provided that SCE has a new machine to announce.
What if Mircosoft announce a portable game machine...
Then Mircosoft will get notice too. Anyway, E3 2010 should not be affected.
