Depends on the method you count the sales. For example, "Pocket Monster" series always launch 2 versions at the same time, if you combine sales of 2 versions that would be more than DQ. But if you count separately, "DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies" is TOP. |

"DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies" sold 4.29 million copies till now. Game Boy's "Pocket Monster (Green, Red)" sold 4.18 million and 4.04 million copies respectively. There is no Pokemon hitting 4 million by a single version after that, so "DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies" is the top. |

Actually, sales of "DRAGON QUEST" series is bad outside Japan, compare with "FINAL FANTASY" series. But this time Nintendo is supporting its sales so this is another story. |
