Japanese Manga is in Stagnation Too

Japanese Manga is in Stagnation Too
Today is about Japanese manga.
Basically, a manga starts from serialization on manga magazine.
After the serialization it would be published in a comic-book form.
Works gaining no reputation or too short in volume may not be published though.
How is the manga market going recently?
It is declining too.
Really?
Just have a look, we can find less and less blockbusters. It's my feeling though.
That reminds me, these days there is no manga famous enough to make everyone know about it.
People's taste has been ramified. As a result, we can find many works with moderate reputation, but there is no more blockbuster which can make everyone interested about it.
Huh.
Moreover, there are many manga magazines discontinue the publication recently.
Discontinue!?
When the economy is good, many new manga magazines start a business. Once the economy turn down, they discontinue. At the end, only those magazines with a long history can survive. New magazines could seldomly make a living.
The economic downturn is still continuing, it seems that the situation will be worse.
The manga industry cannot survive by selling manga alone.
What do you mean?
Here in Japan, we basically make games and anime from a manga to earn profit in a conglomerate sense. But as we mentioned in "Japan's Anime Industry is Declining", the declining DVD sales make that difficult now. So a manga can hardly grow. Since the whole OTAKU industry is declining, manga has also been affected.
It's really sad.
But afterall, good works are still publishing. If you can choose by your own taste, I suppose you can still enjoy as an OTAKU.
At the end, the problem is if you can make yourselves happy.
If you want your favorite manga continue to publish, you better buy its comic-books steadily.
That's right.
