Overseas gamers had got it in Mid-November, Japan was late huh.
And here is the first week sales figure.
It counts the 4 days from December 3 to 6. Data provided by ENTERBRAIN, INC. shows the sales is 0.936734 million.
A worldwide HOT title hits Japan too.
Here in Japan, successful TV commercials attract people who don't play games normally to buy Mario.
Commercials showing famous person enjoying Mario huh.
It maybe a custom of Japan, but we used to return to our hometown during the end and beginning of a year. Even if you don't go home, you would gather with friends, so there is a special needs for multi-player games like Mario. That's why it sales good.
Such "Party Games" are easy to sell in Japan. There are many "Party Games" other than Mario ready to launch for the end of year.
Similar case is "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" which sold 0.816 million in the first week and that's the highest 1st week sales record for Wii. However, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" was out of stock during its launch, so we can't simply compare its figure with Mario's.
