Finally, Nintendo announced their new home console.
Official name is "Wii U". We had introduced the brief details at "Wii Successor Outline Leaked. Trustable?". Announcement at E3 is mainly about the controller.
Not clear enough.
Well, as stated at E3, not only the controller but the console Wii U is new. But the old Wii controller and other peripherals, all Wii games can be driven on Wii U.
Compatible huh.
And you can play games through the monitor on controller, so no need to occupy the TV. Of course you can play on TV and there are games which need both TV and controller's screen.
Huh.
Maybe you would think it is another 3DS or PS Vita, but it need the broadcast from Wii U so not a portable console. Well there maybe gameplay for the controller alone though.
There will be gameplay by showing different scene at the controller and TV, just like our example at "Wii Successor Outline Leaked. Trustable?".

My card game idea is for multi-controller, but in the announcement there is always 1 controller only, maybe the console can only linked to 1 controller...

Anyway, gameplay depends on games, so let's wait for software. This is quite an innovation though.
What info do we have now?
If it must be broadcast by Wii U, it's no good though. They make an example of WiiFit, but I hope we can play it only with the controller and WiiFit broad. So that the bootup time can be shorten. WiiFit now is now suitable for everyday use.
You mean like iPad huh. That's comfortable to startup or shutdown.

How about the launching date? They said 2012.
President Iwata mentioned at NHK Kyoto News that it would be after April 2012. If the business result is bad, they may set it for March 2012 though.
But when we said that at "Wii's Successor Announced. Shame on Nintendo for Announcing New Console Whenever They Have Trouble", comment stated that March is rejected by the press release...
Press release had not state that.
Should be this section.

"As for today's prediction of the fiscal year ended on March 2012, sales of the Wii successor is not included." (April 25, 2011 Nintendo Press Release)
This is just a sentence to avoid others to know the launching date. If they include恓it in the prediction they must launch it. That's no good for business.
So if Nintendo is doing badly, we'll get Wii U in March?
Possible. But this depends on the development of Wii U's games. It is more possible for them to make a brief announcement of software lineup at E3 2012, then launch in Sep to Nov 2012.
So this year's E3 we've got SCE's PS Vita and Nintendo's Wii U.
Hope they can do better. I have one comment for the developer though.
Namely?
If you just make a game because there are new functions, the game must be boring. You should create a game by using necessary functions, sometimes joypad and 2 buttons could be enough for particular gameplay. Hope there will be more interesting games ..

There is some info concerning Nintendo's Wii Successor huh.

Is that trustable?
Not official announcement from Nintendo, but should be leaked by Nintendo before E3 2011.
Why should they leak it? Announce in E3 2011 should gain more attention.
Firstly, in E3 2011, Mircosoft and Sony Computer Entertainment would make announcement before the Big N. If Nintendo announce Wii2 after the 2 companies, mass media won't talk about that much. Also, if Nintendo leak the info first, mass media will mention it alongside with the info of Sony and Mircosoft as a comparison, this invade the publicity of rivals.

That's why the Big N leaked to Nikkei.
The info is mainly related to controller.

The controller can provide new gameplay but popularity depends on software, nothing I can say.

Depends on gameplay. "Wii Sports" or "WiiFit" don't need to play on Wii, just do some sports. But we find some fun through the TV, show gameplay is important.
But a powerful controller would increase cost, if the console is too expensive customer won't buy.
The Big N should be fine.

Just like Wii's controller, selling at high price. Release more multi-player game and people would buy more controllers. A little bit expensive controller can generate quite an income. If they want to create income from other side, they may set a lower price for the console though.
Nintendo's console is always below 25,000Yen. How about this time?
I hope they could keep it, but the computing power is unknown, so uncertain for the price. The price won't be announced in E3 2011, need to wait until next year.
Anyway look forward to E3 2011.
